What the guides on this site are

The buying guides and articles here are general information, written from what we have learned selling silk and satin. They are not advice for your particular situation, your skin, your hair or your bedroom. Where a decision matters to you, ask us and we will tell you what we actually know rather than what would sell more.

What we claim for silk, and what we do not

Two claims, both properties of the fibre. Silk reduces friction, so hair and skin slide across it rather than being gripped and tugged. And it moves moisture rather than holding it, which is why the same silk suits a warm night and a cool one.

That is the whole list. We do not claim that silk clears skin, treats a skin condition, prevents ageing, grows hair or repairs damage. We do not publish an effectiveness percentage for anything, and we do not describe any product here as dermatologically or clinically proven, because we have no trial to cite. If you find wording on this site that goes further than the two claims above, it is a mistake and we would like to know about it.

Nothing on this site is medical, dermatological or cosmetic advice. If you have a skin or scalp condition, or you are choosing something for a baby with a skin condition, speak to a doctor, a dermatologist or a maternal health nurse. A pillowcase is a pillowcase.

Fabric descriptions

Part of this range is a satin weave in 100 per cent polyester rather than silk, and each product page names its own fabric in the first two lines and again in the specifications. Satin is a weave and silk is a fibre, so the word satin on a label tells you how something was made and nothing about what it is made of. If a page here is ever unclear about which you are buying, treat that as a fault and tell us.

Photographs and colour

Product photographs are of the product being sold, not a stand-in. Colour reproduction varies between screens, so a colour will not always look on your monitor exactly as it does in a room. Where a colour matters, order one and see it before you order four.

Statements about the law

Where this site refers to Australian law, including the Australian Consumer Law and the Privacy Act 1988, that is general information rather than legal advice. Nothing on this page limits the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, which apply to everything we sell.
